NYS Masters Part of ‘Super’
Challenge Weekend March 4-6
JANUARY 25, 2016 – The New York State USBC, in conjunction with the Super Bud Bowl, has announced the NYS Masters Super Challenge Weekend – an action-packed three days of scratch and handicap tournament bowling – for March 4-6 at Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego.
“This is a golden opportunity for New York’s ‘weekend warriors’ to display their talents and earn some serious cash,” said Bob Hoefer, proprietor of Lighthouse Lanes, who will be kicking off his weeklong Super Bud Bowl on Sunday, March 6. “The NYS Masters is a premier event – and we’re pleased to be able to join forces with the state association.”
The big weekend begins on Friday, March 4 with a Four-Person Team Tournament, limited to the first 24 fully paid teams. First place, based on a full house, is $2,000, and 1:4 will cash. The entry fee is $260 per team.
Teams will bowl three games across six lanes on the Kegel Beaten Path oil pattern.
The 26th NYS Masters takes place on Saturday, March 5, with qualifying squads at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The maximum number of bowlers on each squad will be 72 – six bowlers per pair – and there is no re-entry.
Bowlers are asked to contact NYS USBC Association Manager Mike Pettinella at bowlny300@yahoo.com to reserve their squad time. First place will pay $2,500 plus a paid entry to the 2017 USBC Masters. The oil pattern will be announced in mid-February.
On Sunday, March 6, the Super Bud Bowl A Squad, starting at noon, will feature the option for entrants to pay an additional $45 and use their handicap qualifying score to possibly advance to a bonus match play roll-off immediately following the squad.
First place of the bonus roll-off is set at $1,000, based on 56 entries. The number of Super Bud Bowl entries will determine the number of roll-off finalists.
