The Tonawanda Lady Warriors finish off a perfect season with a first place championship at the Section VI finals. Tonawanda led by Gina Maduri’s 246,290,245-781 morning session totals put them in first place before the break for lunch. The rest of the tournament team of Dawn Carter, Samantha Marcaccio, Trista Davis, Casey Liebert, Heather Schriber and Erin McDonald all put out a great effort for the win. The afternoon session started a little slow with a mid 700 series but held a firm stance bowling against Lockport and the rest of the teams with solid efforts for the fifth and sixth games. Tonawanda ended up with a 5,555 total just ahead of Clarence with a 5,523, Frontier 5,510, Lockport with a 5,500, and our sister city across the canal North Tonawanda with a 5,227. Good luck at the state finals.
There were some great Tonawanda fans in attendance with lots of cheers and support for the girls.
The boys finished in 9th place at the Section VI finals, with a third place in their division. It seems it just wasn't their day. A couple of splits in the wrong place and those dreaded one pin missed spares were the downfall of the Warriors. Top bowler for the boys was Joe Doherty who came in as a sub after the first game and never let the pins settle down. The rest of the boys team included Drew Overholt, Matt Randall, Brandon Mussell, Chris Orlando, Shawn Bender, and Sean Yeates. Congratulations boys on a great season, and good luck to West Seneca East at the state finals.
