Ebonite-Gamebreaker

Posted by on Wednesday, October 03, 2007 (EST)

The Gamebreaker by Ebonite should be more aptly named the Pinbreaker.

Ebonite International has combined the original symmetric core of the V2 sanded(one of the most successful balls of the 1990’s) with the popular GB 10.7 coverstock of the One. The results are impressive.

The Gamebreaker I received weighed in at 15lb. 4oz with a top weight of 3 ¾ oz and a pin distance of approx. 1-2inches. I would have liked to put the pin above my fingers but it wasn’t feasible with this ball. We decided to put the pin below the ring finger and go 4 x 3 ½. No weight hole was needed. I decided to leave this ball at it’s 2000 Abralon finish. The Gamebreaker is a matte finish out of the box. It has a super low RG of 2.45 and a differential of .051.

The first condition I threw the Gamebreaker on was a typical house pattern with a generally lighter volume. The Gambreaker did not disappoint. I was able to move as far left as possible and swing it right. This ball always made the turn. I did notice though that it was a slow hook off the dry. The Gamebreaker set up a little too early on this condition in it’s box finish, so we polished it. Polish is exactly what this ball needed to come to life. The added length created by the polish let this ball go further right while always making the turn. Hitting power was decidedly stronger. The Gamebreaker is the type of ball that will send tomahawk messengers and also big lofting scouts. Carry percentage was optimum on all types of pocket hits.

I have used the Gamebreaker on a number of different conditions and I find that it is best used on medium conditions. The Gamebreaker is not a ball for dry lanes. I also found that it was a tad too long on the PBA Shark pattern. If you find a condition in between a flood and desert then you are all set. I’m quite sure the Gamebreaker will be on tournament racks everywhere.

Ebonite continues to be the front runner in bowling ball technology. They have a diverse staff with a good ear to what bowlers want. Evidence of listening to bowlers is that they produced the Gamebreaker. Bowlers of all styles will love the Gamebreaker. This ball is also an incredible bargain as Ebonite has priced this ball just a fraction above their entry level reactive balls. Many thanks to Ed Gallagher from Ebonite, Steve Hocking of the National Bowling Store and Bob Hodge of Parkway Lanes, St Catharines.

Gamebreaker
By schmunna on Monday, January 28, 2008 (EST)
I'm 45 yrs old, and 20 years ago I bowled a 140 average, using a 14 lb Rhyno & 14 lb Columbia 300 U Dot. I haven't touched a ball in all those years,  and just bought an Ebonite Gamebreaker and have bowled 5 games over 200, with a personal best of 233, and a 213 just this past Monday Night, all in league play.  I've taken no lessons from a pro.  Every pro shop & bowling store in town tried to talk me into a 15 or 16 lb ball, telling me how strong and athletic I am.  I don't throw hard, and release it out over the 2nd arrow from the right, with a foot and a half or so hook on the end, and this 14 lb. Ebonite Gamebreaker finishes as strong as anything I've seen.  Eats up the oil, I can flatten it out to pick up spares as well.  I'm currently carrying a 188 average, and it'll improve the more time I get on the lanes.....
